PURPOSE
Families who have made the choice to do home study can benefit from a variety of helpful services provided by FLS. As a family-oriented learning focus, home study is growing in popularity every year. Family Learning Services is positioned to help parents in their application of this vital and viable educational alternative in our program, Silver Crest School. The home environmnet is potentially the most natural and secure learning atmosphere for children and young people and provides the advantage of one-on-one teaching for each student.
In addition, parents have greater influence in the inculcation of their values and in the development of the character and basic skills of their children. For many families, home study has been a rewarding alternative to public or private school education.
Some families who have students in public or private school are discovering that an independent study done in a home study program in selective subject areas can also be helpful while providing greater variety. For the student who faces the challenge of pursuing career and athletic goals, the flexibility of the home study program of FLS is a refreshing change. Of course, for families whose lifework and responsibilities take them abroad or into a non-permanent location, home study can be a welcome alternative for meeting educational needs. Silver Crest School is a registered private school in the State of Oregon.
