High School Program

Students may enroll in SCHS courses when they have completed grade eight in a public or private school or upon completion of an end of grade eight achievement test. To be eligible for a high school diploma, students will study the following credit-hour equivalencies under the supervision of FLS. Studying one course the equivalent of one academic year earns one credit.

Home study students also have the option of simultaneously enrolling in selective courses in a public or private school and applying credits earned toward their SCHS diploma program. Or students may enroll in an Independent Study course for credit to be transferred to another school or study program.

Silver Crest High School students are actively involved in planning and are accountable for carrying out their educational program with the support and guidance of FLS. An individual curriculum menu with learning objectives is provided for each student. Because of the flexibility of the SCHS program, students can be innovative and creative in making course and curriculum selections to fulfill credit requirements. In addition, an SOI educational assessment can provide training to enable a student to be prepared for college. Or an SOI career assessment in areas selected by students can provide additional training to enable them to be fully prepared to step into the world of work upon completion of their high school program.

Students who plan to receive a diploma from SCHS must complete 23 hours and be enrolled during their final six credit hours. We provide individual guidance and course evaluation for students to assure them that they are covering sufficient learning units and activities to meet each course requirement. These course evaluation reports become a part of the student record. Testing will also verify completion of each grade level throughout the high school course of study. Each student must take a full standardized achievement test at the end of grade12 and score at or above the 25th percentile to receive a diploma from SCHS.
